Description:
Races: Marathon, Half Marathon
The Hatfield-McCoy Marathon has something for everyone, from 26.2 and 13.1 mile runs to our kid's Once Around The Block Mini Marathon. The race begins in Eastern Pike County, KY in a small area known as Goody, KY on the parking lot of one of our sponsors, Food City Food Stores. We run a scenic course that will surprise you. There is one hill between miles 6 & 7 while the rest of the course is flat to rolling and runs on the roads that follow the creeks and rivers. Both finish lines are in West Virginia. The half-marathon ends in historic Matewan, WV and the marathon in Williamson, WV at the World Famous Coal House. In the past 5 years we have had runners from all across the USA and around the world participate. We expect between 300 & 500 runners this year.
The Hatfield-McCoy Marathon is part of the Hatfield-McCoy Reunion Festival which will be held June 9, 10, 11, & 12th, 2005. Proceeds from this race go to support TVRRC children's running programs and scholarship funds. The two best ways to get here are US 119 and US 52. Hotel rooms are available but they fill up fast. There will be a pasta dinner available at the Brass Tree Restaurant on June 10th at 6:00PM. And there will be a post-race Pig Fest with music and Pig fixed just about any way you'd want it.

Description:
Yes the ASA is alive and well in West Virginia and we are proud to once again host another tournament in Parkersburg. If you are not currently sanctioned by ASA, you can simply do it on site in five minutes and a cost of $30. And the registration is good at all future ASA tournaments the rest of the year. We are looking forward to working with Tom, Mickey, and all the other hard-working volunteers at Godbey fields. The field crew does a great job and they are all volunteer positions. The tournament is a 5 game guarantee for 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams for $425, and a 4 game guarantee for 10U teams for $375, so all the girls get lots of ball. And all pool play games will be 90 minutes in length so all the teams can finish, or come close to finishing, their games. The pitching distance for 14u will be 43 feet. All teams will receive four games of pool play on Friday and Saturday, then each team will enter into a single elimination bracket on Sunday. The teams in the top half of their respective pools will go into a platinum bracket, and the teams in the bottom half of their respective pools will go into a gold bracket. This should ensure more equal competition on Sunday. The brackets will not meet, but the finalists in each bracket will receive awards. So we invite you to come out , play some good softball that weekend, and reward all their efforts to make Godbey fields the best fields around. There will be lots of softball in Parkersburg that weekend and we invite you
